Carlos Slim's mentioning is devious at best, the reason he became one of the riches person on the world is because he was a monopoly on telecommunications, starting in mexico (thanks to a corrupt government and a sale that shouldn't had happened) and expanding his monopoly to other countries.

Corruption is mostly in all nations but few. Latin America is slowly ascending it's economy and have open trades around the world. Too bad, the U.S. has always meddle in these nations affair. On the long run it comes down to resource rather than just paper money that has no back up, like gold. By 2050 Latin America would be the top choice to live while other Top Nations populated, polluted and devastated by war will crumble.
