I think the difference between television adverts and online adverts is that television programs cannot be paused and adverts cannot be skipped and so are a very welcome break, whereas online videos can be paused and adverts only annoy and intrude (especially when the ads are inappropriate and not suited to your interests and even horribly misunderstands what interests you and shows you some awful ones).
