Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson were molded by several musical moments in their lives to form the band Heart in the 70s. Ann Wilson has since become one of Rock and Roll’s defining voices for a Legendary band that has sold over 35 million records, and charted 20 top 40 singles. She’s also the only female to front a band that has charted top ten albums in four different decades.
She has paved the way for every girl who has ever dreamed of starting a band. the desire to rock started from watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, but instead of wanting the fab four like most of her friends, she wanted to be the Beatles. The die was cast for good though when Ann discovered here biggest inspiration: Led Zeppelin. In a recent Ann Wilson Interview, she was asked which album changed everything for her.

She said and I quote “I think it’d be Zeppelin IV. I would listen to the Beatles and listen to the Stones and Elton John and the other groups that I was listening to in my teens, but that album really hit me where I lived. “I know it had a lot to do with Plant’s lyrics. I mean that’s my favorite part of the gig is getting to sing those words, our words, Zeppelin’s words, whoever, is just getting to recreate the poetry in song. “And that’s the album when he really started to write in a more masterly way.” She would also add : “I knew from the first that I have to reproduce that. This is a teaching album, I said to myself End of quote. It has been a fire starter for the band since the very beginning. In the long ranging interview that I did with Ann some time ago, she talked about Led Zeppelin through out. How they inspired some of Hearts’ compositions. She was able to meet her heroes and even work with John Paul Jones in the 90s, as he produced the live Heart album the Road Home. And who can forget the beautiful experience where she and Nancy were able to pay tribute to them at the Kennedy Center Honors years ago with their perfect rendition of Stair way to Heaven.

Every time I see the Kennedy Centre performance I tear up. Their rendition of Stairway is beyond incredible. What the Wilson sisters have brought musically and more to my generation and others will most likely never be attained by others. They don't write like that anymore.

I've always appreciated Anne's appreciation for Zeppelin. Regardless, she's one helluva singer!

Like Heart, the Kennedy Center performance is AMAZING. Never have I seen or heard a cover song that so perfectly melded the original artist and the performing artist. The vocals and guitar playing were at the same time Led Zeppelin and Heart. Shear perfection. I watch that performance over and over and never get tired of it. Great interview. Nancy, as well as Ann are truly great and gentle people. Thank you for staying true to yourselves. And thanx to you Professor.

Hearing Ann’s voice, and realizing that it is an instrument on it’s very own, captivated me. She is a true treasure.

Her voice is positively operatic. Zep 4 was rock poetry. The combination of the 2 at the Kennedy center was pure heaven.

OMG... What else can be said?? She truly is the first lady/Queen of rock and roll. As a 60 y/o man, I'm not ashamed to admit to tears streaming down my face watching their performance of Stairway. Absolutely incredible. Life stamping.

Ann still has one of the best rock and roll voices ever. I've been a fan since I first heard her voice in '76. Oh, and I also had a big time crush on her and Nancy. What a great interview! She's so gracious, approachable, and humbled by her experiences. She really is "Dreamboat Annie."

Epic interview. I find it inconceivable that this channel has only 233k subscribers. This guy should have millions. "Professor" of rock is an understatement. This guy should have a Nobel Prize for rock-&-roll journalism.
