EDGE in Tech: Every Breath You Take….the Future of Indoor Air Quality
Показать описание
How can information technology make our lives better through improved indoor air quality? Indoor air pollution can cause a wide range of health complications, with estimates of more than 3.8 million human lives lost globally each year to illnesses induced by indoor pollutants. This panel will explore how IT will enhance ventilation and reduce indoor air pollution and pathogens to achieve a higher quality of life worldwide, particularly for disadvantaged groups.
Panel organized and convened by Michele Barbato, professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Davis and Director of the CITRIS Climate initiative and Tod Stoltz, director of business development at UC Davis Health and staff at CITRIS and the Banatao Institute. The UC Davis College of Engineering creates a sustainable world through socially responsible engineering. UC Davis is the home of the Aggies — go-getters, change makers and problem solvers who make their mark at one of the top U.S. public universities. Our efforts focus on improving lives, transforming care and sharing knowledge to advance health for all.
Moderator:
Richard L. Corsi, Dean of the College of Engineering University of California, Davis
Panelists:
Cristina Davis, Associate Vice Chancellor for Interdisciplinary Research and Strategic Initiatives; Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of California, Davis
Elizabeth Scheehle, Chief, Research Division California Air Resources Board
Seema Bhangar, Principal, Healthy Buildings and Communities US Green Building Council
Vinny Eng, Director of Policy and Advocacy Safer Together
Now in its seventh year, the annual Diversity in Tech Symposium (formerly Women in Tech) highlights the experiences of experts working to build smarter tech for a resilient future. Panels span aviation, manufacturing, water management, indoor air quality, national security, transportation, smart cities and semiconductors. This event also features the EDGE in Tech Initiative Athena Awards, recognizing those who have championed the advancement of women and people of color in technology.
Thank you to the symposium sponsors and supporters: Lam Research, Siemens, Agilent, Sandia National Labs, UC Davis College of Engineering and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, UC Santa Cruz’s Baskin Engineering, the IoT4Ag Program at UC Merced, and the Institute for Transportation Studies at UC Berkeley, and philanthropist Carla Itzkowich, who made a generous contribution in honor of her father.
