I think we love superhero movies because they’re stories that represent a much more hopeful version of us. In my opinion, it’s very important to have characters like Superman, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wonder-Woman, Captain America, and the others because they remind humanity that it is capable of heroism, particularly with the gifts they’ve been given.

Fiction is where we practice emotions, or scenarios. We even start to act like characters in books we're reading. The world is scary right now and this is how we prepare ourselves to fo what needs to be done. We all need to be superheroes right now and this helps mentally prepare us

I'm glad you pointed out that superhero stories have been around since the beginning of storytelling (ex. Hercules/Heracles). Storytelling is an essential part of being human and superhero stories have always been a part of storytelling.

I think the fact that America has produced most of the superheroes people know and love is a product of the American ‘savior’ complex

One thing I find the most fascinating about superheroes is how they're likened to being modern myths. The Pantheon of our age. From characters that are gods (or close to godlike) to humans striving to be more than their limitations. I would like to see another video exploring this idea.

Please, do a white savior trope video. Thank you.

not that it's like a trope or anything, but I always like it when people stand around in a crowd watching the superhero fight instead of running for their lives.

Nothing inherently wrong with power fantasies. They make me work harder and overcome. I love the vicarious feeling of power when the hero struggles and then finally prevails. People deserve to feel powerful. Why should we tell people to settle for mediocrity? And if you don’t know your own worth, no one else will. Great video as always!

Including "Avengers! Assemble" with Captain America grabbing Thor's hammer was the best part of this video.

I feel that now it's high time people stop trying to be a hero, and start being a human.

Batman has always been the most important superhero for me because he’s been a prominent part of every era of comics, and he still is. More than that, the side characters and his city come to the forefront as being just as important as him. The Batman comics are the most human to me, and are far more human than any cinematic adaptation I’ve seen. So many writers and artists have made so many quality Batman stories. I really recommend reading some.

Be it human nature or tradition, we retell the same stories over time. The only modern addition to this is the interconnected-ness of the worlds they're set in. Look at Once Upon A Time or the countless film and TV show crossovers (Supernatural and Scooby-Doo, for example). We enjoy revisiting old tales, gaining new or regaining old perspectives, or refreshing our memory. There's something comforting about them.
