George Washington's Masonic Apron

For George Washington’s 292nd birthday, his Masonic apron will be displayed in the Mount Vernon Museum. The apron was made in France and is believed to have been presented to Washington at Mount Vernon in 1784 by the Marquis de Lafayette.

Washington was initiated as an "Entered Apprentice” at the Freemason Lodge at Fredericksburg, Virginia, in 1752. A year later, he became a Master Mason, the highest rank in the Fraternity of Freemasonry. Washington maintained his ties to the society throughout his life.

Why was the skull replaced with a "G"?

I love that is has American flags. You never see that anymore. What is the second flag? It's pretty dark
