I know adding the 5th note of the scale or the tone 7 semitones above the root note (harmonic note) to almost every chord gives a very emotional vibe. Another thing to know is if one of the notes in the chord is one semitone apart from the harmonic note it tends to sound kind of dissonant which can be to some unpleasant.
