The large wheels of the Panther is a great helper here.

The firefly’s engine was just 5 engines tapped together. In general a lot of the firefly was a scramble to improve what they had gotten. They had to flip the gun on its side to fit and put a hole in the back of the turret to fit the radio.
It wasn’t really a complete from the ground up design.

Later Sherman’s with better engines and drivetrains would have had an easier time.

Luckily the video ended just before the panthers final drive broke😂

Track width is the key feature. Sherman Jumbos had wider tracks.

The panther also had independent suspension. Made it smoother and gave it better traction.

And then the final drive on the panther broke and the engine caught fire and a road wheel got something caught in it. The Sherman braked and got caught in mud.

Wider tracks is the secret, Germans copied from Russian t34, which the Russians have widen their tank tracks to traverse thich snow.

yeah this is just showing how the lighter Sherman fails at ground 'flotation' thanks to its narrower tracks. the panther - although heavier - had wide tracks for better weight distribution over soft terrain.

That is why the m4a3e8 had wider tracks

The wide tracks of the Panther made it work much better over diffficult terrain, the Germans learnt that from the T-34 on the Eastern Front.

Some have to remember it's all on the tracks the panther has aggressive track grips the Sherman has rubber tracks no grip at all and well the panther is larger and wider the tracks more horsepower too but tracks are important in a tank if it has grip it can do anything the tank if it doesn't then it's just gonna slip

The Sherman was an abject failure, they used engineers from the lunatic asylum’s, when building it, a tracked machine the LGP is vital that’s low ground pressure, tracks is needed, they failed there also the body armour was useless along with the pee shooter Cannon, men manning these tanks we sent to the inevitable deaths wholesale murder, totally wrong, I new a man that struggled with his superiors in the army to have the then 25 pounder anti tank field gun, that could knock out the German tanks, fitted into tanks, it had a recoil problem, needed converting, it took Churchill himself to push this ahead with the guy I new to spare head it, the politics and bloody mindedness of high ranks in the army nearly lost us any advantage we had with the 25 pounder and the type of shells we were developing that could go through any armour the German tanks had, shell technology was vital,
