Doesn't matter how safe trucks or roads are, you can't fix stupid.

Maybe we should also require that commercial drivers read and understand English.

The main problem is these are steering wheel holders out there for a pay check. The government stepped in years ago with the CDL license and put a bunch of edumakted people behind the wheel. Just because you have a CDL license don't mean you have the WISDOM to be a truck driver.

Make all the laws you want if people do not follow them it matters not....

It's not truck drivers doing that it's wheel holders masquerading as real truckers

The problem isn't the road. The problem is the driver. I'm a professional driver who runs thru there on a regular basis. Just because you have a pulse doesn't make you a truck driver. Many out here don't speak or understand English.

Unskilled drivers working for low wages is the problem and we all know it. When it comes to trucking the one thing that matters the most is going with the absolute lowest bidder.

This is due to all of the CDL mills out there that hand a license to any goober after 2 weeks of classroom and no practical road time

Load weight, speed, vehicle condition, driver experience, off site time management in the cab, loads dispatched with unmanageable time constraints, low pay and/or benefits, alcohol/drug use, impatient drivers (both 18 and 4 wheels), lack of parking and a commercial driver’s ability to choose when to rest, lack of the use of English, long load wait times, public attitudes, more traffic than ever seen before, long wait times for necessary repairs, governed trucks that drone on all day and lack power to properly transit mountain ranges, lack of driver courtesy … the list goes on and on and why I refuse to drive now.

Instead of HOV lanes we need truck lanes.

So we have to pass new laws ? Maybe you should test these drivers before you give them a license!

Consumers always wanting it delivered yesterday and cheaper. Trucking companies hiring cheaper, poorly and quickly trained drivers to meet the demand. Trucking industry lobbyists are always pushing for deregulation. Exhausted drivers in poorly maintained trucks, what could possibly go wrong?

FYI to the conspiracy theorist blaming the 'other' per usual. Might actually want to remove the cranium from the posterior and get facts first.

"Some safety concerns in the trucking industry in 2024 include:

Driver shortage
The industry is estimated to be short around 80, 000 drivers, which may be due to an aging workforce, unfavorable working conditions, and the stigma around truck driving."

How many of these trucks are speeding because they have overheated their brakes? Are Jake brakes allowed? I have a motorhome that was only used in non mountain areas by the previous owner. When I took it out west I discovered how hard it is to slow down a diesel on a hill (there is no throttle valve on a diesel - letting off the gas does nothing to slow a diesel) so when I got home I immediately installed an exhaust brake as they don't make Jake brakes for the engine in it. I was no longer in danger of overheating the brakes.

This is what you get when you put people that can't flip burgers at McDonald's in a truck

Hold the companies who hire bad drivers accountable by law including criminal negligence

...but yet the 4 wheelers have nothing to do with it..🙄😎

truck drivers, wearing flip flops, lol, non english and poorly trained, what could go wrong, sigh

The speed limit of 75 mph on certain sections along the MTN corridor encourages speeding. Logic points to LOWERING THE SPEED LIMITS FOR EVERYONE in the mountain corridors. Even people who don’t speak English UNDERSTAND NUMBERS!

Seat warmers...ever since the industry went to automatics, the quality of skilled drivers has significantly decreased.
