Axios has been criticized for being unmaintained for so long, but recently, upgrades and patches have been added to the package.
Axios is now in v1 and it is exciting to see how things pan out, especially for API calls in javascript and web development.
One advantage of Axios over the Fetch API is the download/upload progress.

I would definitely be using it more in React and Frontend development.
