It's also really interesting to notice how recognizably unique french classical music sounds. It really stands out from the rest.

When you look at any Ravel, you start seeing how obsessed he was with 3s against 2s. It's all over his piano writing, his songs, and clearly evident in his string writing. I love this movement, how the shifting feel of the metre propels the music forward and at the same time makes one uncertain of just exactly where the downbeat is.
