Sensational, much underrated, very cleverly written song by Paul Evans and Paul Pomes. "Let's Pretend" was issued in the UK as an A-side and peaked at #11 in the national chart and at #5 on the iconic Radio London Fab Forty in July 1967. The UK Government sought to destroy the offshore radio stations of the sixties which collectively had many millions of listeners across Europe. London amassed the most and at 2pm on 14 August '67, broadcast its final hour to a devastated audience. The lyric of "Let's Pretend" summed up the feelings of these dedicated listeners who were having their cherished station removed from their lives against their wishes. The station presenters, under the guidance of Senior DJ Ed Stewart selected the song to be featured in 'Their Final Hour'. What a masterstroke; the sentiment expressed in the song was perfect for the occasion and has stood the test of time ever since.
