57batsibis still only slightly stuck in his OSRS journey to finally beat Dragon Slayer 1, this time only being held back by a highly suggestive door that will only open once you are giving it all you have. So lets do exactly that.

lol, well done. another awesome episode. btw the reason why we say dont stream isnt because we want to stop you from having fun. but because people in livestreams may not know you are doing a fresh run and may spoil stuff for you, or help you without realising. we would love it if you just experience the game on your own without outside help so you can experience the same joy we all did when we picked this game up and stumbled around like oafs. that is where most of us had the most fun. for whatever my opinion is worth. but i will say after you finish all the f2p quests, no one will have issues with you livestreaming and doing members content with chats help in future if you want that.

I applaud your resolve to play the game blind and not use guides/player gifts - it definitely forces you to see and experience more of the game than if you basically skip content or only go the most efficient path through. However, your realization that you only came across the planks and the wizards bomb because of playing with other people while streaming raises a really interesting point - while certainly being handfed tips or ideas by veteran players is not really "authentic", neither is playing the game in a complete vacuum.

Because of course, Runescape is an MMO - the whole point is that it is online multiplayer. You are supposed to play with other people, talk with them, trade items and yes, information! When a new quest was released, there would be droves of people completing it at the same time, talking to each other and sharing notes. But even outside of quests or main 'content', Runescape was also a bit of a sandbox. People might just be hanging out online with their friends or clanmates and doing random stuff - I think that part was also encouraged by the open-ended progression of the game. So back then, it was very reasonable to expect that a player who had gotten to Dragon Slayer had spent some time at the different taverns and ordered different drinks, because why not? And even if they hadn't, surely they knew someone also playing the game who did. And that's just one of a million possible examples. When online guides weren't so comprehensive and this old content was more popular, the network of players you knew or ran into was an inextricable part of your game knowledge.

I'm not saying you should stream with other people - people can be huge backseaters and overly "helpful" a lot of the time (and I'm not saying you shouldn't stream either, obviously play however you want), but I think this is an interesting thing to consider. A lot of people want to see you playing the old Runescape that they remember as a child, but at some point, that isn't completely possible. A case of "you can't go home again"

I haven't played much Runescape or done Dragon Slayer since 2007, but I still remember where to get planks or Wizard's Mind Bomb.
Also, funny story, I checked this channel a few days ago but there was no new video. I came back and found this video released just a few hours after I last checked.
