How to Reset the FortiGate Administrator password if it has been lost/forgotten.

Console access is required, I'm using the following two cables to obtain this access:
1) USB to Serial Adapter
2) R232 to Ethernet cable
  1. ToThePoint Fortinet

worked. TIP: reboot fortigate and type username and password in first time, if you type wrong fortigate will not accept this login again, then, reboot and try again. Thank you, Sir.

I was able to reset the password and log in successfully, but both in graphical mode and CLI, the user remained classified with a read-only profile.
