It needs an ON/OFF switch so you don't have to manually press the wires to the contacts.

Very interesting, but there's a concern about the water getting inside the motor and ruining it in time...
I suggest placing a rubber seal (possible made out of silicon between the motor shaft and the cavity). That way water wont get inside the motor.

You can improve pressure by adding 2 or 3 impaler. It could also improve suction.

Can you provide some pressure (psi, bar, etc.) ratings for this pump? Maybe you could connect a sprayer wand to the unit and put a pressure guage inline and let us know what sort of pressure this pump can produce? Thank you.

You could also use washers and make a cork screw pattern all the way up the tube. Cut the washers and bend them slightly.
