Listening to this is like being in a dream while working. It makes me want to lie down and go to sleep. These sounds are the true music of the natural world, disappearing from us all, now, so fast. Hearing them takes me back 49 years to when I was 17 in Louisville, KY, and had just finished high school. Instead of attending the graduation ceremony, I chose to go camping at Red River Gorge, where I slept in a cave and the rain fell steadily and gently all day long. Thunder rumbled in the distance, moving farther and farther away, stretching time.
