Prevalence of Cognitive Symptoms Across the MS Disease Course

"Getting help for problem with cognition ..."  My psychiatrist did recommend that a "Smart Phone" would be helpful in providing reminders, calendar alarms, etc. for my losses in short term memory, passage of time, days of the week, appointments, prescriptions, etc. It sounds like it would be helpful, but I cannot afford either a Smart Phone nor a carrier package to support it. Why isn't this covered as a medical appliance?
