they're indeed out of the ordinary, but not sure if you can call them indie though (especially the weeknd and ocean).

I just really wish RnB was being more experimental then leaning more towards Pop like most music these days are. I wish it would lean back towards hip hop, like real hip hop that has all but completely died from the Pop world. Stuff like Zavala, Tokimonsta, Opiuo. The soul of true RnB is so dead right now, need to bring back that Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Bobby Womack spirit into it while still being new. Not just another club hit. Jamie Lidell and Super Collider are good examples.
