It's not enough just to counteract bad politics; one must counteract bad philosophy, otherwise ultimately default back to bad politics. That's basically the message.

I think the proper "default" for libertarians is praxeology. Unfortunately most libertarians never read any libertarian writing! Lol. Half of them are conservatives who are confused.

Anyways the default is praxeology for the exact reason that it bypasses philosophy and psychology and anything that attempts to explain human behavior.

They can point to the economy and say "you wish to satisfy the needs of people in a utilitarian way. According to your utilitarian moral wishes, the best system to bring the most amount of people the greatest amount of utility is a free market system."

Maybe it's just that the Austrians are the sophisticated ones. I suppose Austrians are not technically libertarians because Austrians economics is about economics.

Oh and I agree with the fact that many people went down the libertarian path, but became lost on those philosophical issues.

I know for a fact that many of the alt right were libertarians first.

They were forced to conclude that free markets only work in a homogenous society based on homogeneity of race and religion.

And then they abandon free markets for right wing socialism.

I consumed all the alt right material around 2016-18.
