BOOST
80Hz - get thump!
150 - 400Hz (go really broad) - thickness!
1k - upfront!
5k - aggresive brightness!
12k - airy brightness!

CUT
100-400Hz (cut with narrower Q) - MUD!
600 - 900Hz - BASEMENT SOUND!
3 - 4 kHz - HARSHNESS!

This is probably one of the best vids ever! I applied it to a mix and realized it was missing thickness and presence, so threw on 300 hz and 1k. Then I went in to individual tracks to apply it to the ones that needed it. Now it sounds so much better and fuller! This is actually a good process for mixing a song. It’s like top down mixing but rather than keeping the moves on the master bus you do it to figure out what the song needs then apply it to the tracks within

To find this general tone, is great to use the buses of each group of sounds, great content loco!

You're the best music production channel on YouTube, I'm a guitar player and I've basically started recording and putting music together to help me improve as a player, I am certainly not a music producer however I am having SO much fun learning and practicing in a daw. It's making me a better musician.

Those were some surprisingly powerful little EQ moves right there, this may be the best magic frequency video yet dude

Hello from Ukraine 🤘You have great tutorial videos on your channel for beginners. I downloaded the "cheatsheet" and saved the whole playlist with "magic frequencies" in order to record new material in a better way. Thanks for such informative content 💙💛

No, your not the only one still using that eq. I use it last on my lead vocals, to add anything I mite want to add back in. It as a sound, its warm, and broad!! I like it..

I'm not at all a metal guy but the amount of really GOOD songs I'm hearing on your channel is ridiculous. Your doing great work. Oh, and good video.

I did a mix of our coverband (pop songs) and the results were not strong. I decided to start over and just almost religiously followed the mix cheat sheet and it got me so much farther in maybe 30 minutes then all the time spent previously. It was also a real learning experience as it helped me pinpoint and remedy problems I just wouldn't know how to fix previously. Really cool to realise, thans a lot!

Thanks for being balanced in how you present info. It’s concrete enough to grasp, but flexible enough to understand in a realistic context.

It would be useful to add this Mix Buss category to your existing Cheat Sheet, which by the way, is fantastic 👍

No joke. That was impressive. Subbed and DL’d the cheat sheet. And thank you for being all thriller no filler. No fat or added sugars in your videos. Respect 🫡

I really love these series as long as you listen and then decide to do these moves knowing where to search for that specific feel or sound really helps for getting faster at eqing
