Although I grew up in Europe, I got into the whole american girl doll craze. My dad brought back a Kirsten from a work trip and it was one of the happiest days of my childhood life. Their stuff was expensive and hard to get if you lived in Europe. So for me it was a big deal. ❤

My little sister was devastated when we learned they were going to discontinue Samantha dolls. Her entire personality revolved around the Victorian Era. Our grandparents gave Samantha, the book series, and several of the outfits for my little sister for Christmas that year. I was so happy for her! That was the year I got an American Girl Doll horse for my "Just Like Me" doll!

I was obsessed with Kirsten until Felicity was released when I was in 4th grade... then I became obsessed with her! Still have those two dolls and love them.

I was that little white girl that wanted Addy and her story honestly opened my eyes at a very young age to different people’s experience . Ps I still think about these red and navy pea coats made for the human girls from the catalog, I’m 36 lol they were very Samantha coded

I had Kaya and her book series is the only thing I read in its entirety. I don’t read at all and never did so it’s crazy I was that dedicated. But the destruction of native lives and history was so devastating and I needed to know everything. It taught me about super heavy topics and I think I’m more open minded and better because of that character.

I never got an American girl doll, but my grandma gave me two Samantha books as a child and I LOVED them. So I guess I was a Samantha girl by default 😂

I love Samantha! I was a Kit girly myself, but I always loved Samantha’s movie and later got her as a doll too!

GIRL. I had the bangs and everything. My mom was in a women’s group and they did a fundraiser that was an American girl fashion show and I got to be Samantha and it was the highlight of my whole life. I’m 34. I bought a house. I have a husband. I’m a lawyer. Being Samantha in the fashion show is still #1 accomplishment.

She was my favorite as well!!! I made my entire bedroom into a Victorian princesses dream....a big 'Thank you' to my parents for allowing me to do this, as we weren't wealthy by any means, and they sacrificed and spent thousands on furniture and decor I picked out and called it my 12th birthday present ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hilarious!!! I'm the gay brother that called the 800 number to get those books "for my sister" but I really just wanted them, LOL. Now I get them for free in those little free libraries. We have a friend named Samantha so she's definitely a fav too

Samantha was my doll too!!! I had all her books, accessories, and dresses!! She's my favorite!!! My grandma had Kit and Molly, while my sister had Joesphina!!! What's even better is that my grandma bought me the bike Samantha has and even bought the wheelchair for Molly!!!! I swear that the original American girl books and dolls are the best!!! They make me so happy to see, as they were the best part of my childhood!!!!❤

I wanted Samantha, but my parents couldn't afford an American Girl Doll and bought me Kirsten second hand. Don't worry, I loved her, made her my entire personality, and became obsessed with pioneers 😅😅
Which... for added context, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), and a big part of our church history is pioneers 😂 so it worked on levels. 😅😅
