Keith & Evan give HGTV a tour of one of their homes that was renovated in New Orleans. The duo headed south for the winter, restoring abandoned homes in New Orleans. Facing hurricane damage, bee infestations, and strict building codes, they get help from Whitfield with tricky business choices. The spinoff series premieres Wednesdays in October at 9|8c.

Wow! I'm incredibly impressed! The design and floorplan is not something I have ever seen on a duplex or semi as we call them in Canada. Although, I guess in this instance, it isn't really a semi... but you've made it a classy, comfortable HOME, out of thrifted items and art from leftovers ! I've seen houses where budget was not an issue and some are tacky and horrible... and you have shown that you don't need to win the lottery to make a beautiful space! I think your approach makes everyone feel like you really know how to create appeal for the masses, and that it is achievable even at a tight budget! Having the owners area get a good chunk of the space and the L shape to give them the back yard? Magnifique!

Hello.
I just started watching your New Orleans version. New Orleans has such amazing, unique homes. I've been there twice.
I live in Northern Kentucky and we have shotgun houses here too! I just wanted to thank you for what you did in Detroit. My grandparents lived there. I've not been there since the 1980's because they passed. They lived in such a sweet working class neighborhood. I checked it out on Google Earth and the neighborhood is now a sad, mess. When I watched your Detroit shows I was hoping you'd get to their neighborhood but unfortunately you didn't. I hope someone like you does. It's wonderful to see houses rehabbed well, by people who appreciate the original details and at prices people can afford! I wish you were rehabbing where i live. I need an affordable home!

Fabulous new layout, avoiding the pitfalls of shotgun plan. The tone on tone owner's kitchen and the gorgeous coppery brown tile in the bathroom really make the place. I admire how you've adjusted your style to the Southern aesthetic and used thrifted character pieces throughout.
