Who wastes time farming for hides? Firstly ancestor silks always have a better refine rate for dreugh wax than hides usually, and you can farm more of them in same time as you barely kill one group of bats...especially during an event with double node drops or a zone that always has double node drops like craglorn (plus while you farm there you can get potent nirncrux drops which up your gold amount for the exact same time of farming...only thing that you might get from farming bats or anything in a base game zone not carglorn would be aetherial cypher, but its so rare it cannot even be considered as a possible increase to gold for bat farming unless your play time becomes only bat farming for years upon years).

Secondly, best way to get loads of hides and silks for barely 5 min on each toon you have each day is do your daily craft board quest. If you got all your toons craft skill up to max level with all skill points in your craft skills for level, then you get highest level reward boxes for the craft dailies, which have way better drop rates of dreugh wax and the other gold mats in game just for opening the boxes, plus give you surveys....so run around for 5-10 min and harvest more hide and silk from 1-2 surveys than you get from 30 min of bat killing :P lol

Lesson is simple, craft skills are important if you want to get more gold stuff to sell, there is literally a passive that ups your chances for getting gold mats when refining raw mats....its a passive for each of the 4 decon tables.

Now if you dont want the risk of refining the raw mats for gold mats, then sure sell the raw mats from the surveys...either way you choose to profit its a faster easier method than grinding any mob for drops. Also if you going to grind a mob, pick one that drops something that you can sell too, like mudcrabs drop hides and mudcrab chitin (easy spot for that at beginning of grahtwood I think).

Sometimes when I come to this area, the bats respawn immediately, but other times it takes like a full 5 minutes for them to respawn. Do you happen to know why this happens?

I don't know if the prices were different 2 months ago but I recently finally bit the bullet and actually bothered to max out a Crafter and for me I've been selling my drag wax for around 40 to 50k because that's an actual current average price by the TTC standard.
