This is a pen that has actually had to grow on me over time, despite its general popularity. I initially didn't like the design when I first saw it, but now I appreciate it and understand its qualities. I'm glad you discussed the ability to disassemble and clean the pen, because it doesn't appear to be able to be disassembled. Though that is really a testament to its design and engineering. Thanks for sharing this.

Blake, great review!

I wished I had bought the Lamy 2000 fountain pen sooner,
But some poor reviews on YouTube made me hesitant to buy. Now that
I have bought the Lamy 2000 I have to say it is the favorite pen in my pen collection.
I have the pen with a fine nib and it writes like a dream smooth almost like
A ballpoint pen. The material the pen is made of is way better than the plastic
Other pens are made of. The section is comfortable and these little clips don't
Even touch my fingers when I write. The design and look of the pen are incredible
Beautiful and understated but radiates good taste and confidence!. Also, the pen
posts really well too. The line width depends a lot on the paper used but, on the Tomoe River,
Paper is fairly fine.

Great video, Blake. I own a Lamy 2000 with an EF nib. I true enjoy this pen; it is one of my favorites. There is a love/hate relationship with the Lamy 2K. Some love it for the buttery smoothness of the nib while others dislike it. Some dislike this pen because of the “sweet spot” (which happens with some hooded nibs) while others found the perfect writing position and have no issues with the sweet spot. As always, I enjoy your content.

Nice video, I especially like your last minute commentary of the pen in the end. And I agree, it's just a very good instrument for the money.
What I love the most about mine, since I'm not actually crazy about the design, just neutral, even if the understatement of it is growing on me, is how it just seem to love to work. Out of all of my pens the 2000 just keeps wet, have no hard starts and writes perfectly even when running low on ink, until it's bone dry. Most of my other pens are more hesitant when very low on ink. Then there is the very satisfying click of the cap as well as the smooth posting. I love mine and it was a solid choice for my first gold nib pen.

A favourite EDC and the "gateway drug" into fountain pens, for me :)

Good video again, and I agree with your assessment :) Thank you for making these!

Thanks for an interesting review. I am not sure that this pen's nib suffers from as much of QC issue as some people like to suggest. Lamy's QC is excellent. I've owned most of the nib sizes on the 2000, in various versions, makrolon, metal, Bauhaus, 2021 brown pen etc, and all of the nibs have been prefect. I think that the issue may be that it is actually a difficult pen to use, especially if you are relatively new to using a fountain pen, as you need to get the nib alignment just right. A lot of people always say that this should be people's first gold nib pen but I think it is a tough pen for a newbie user to get to grips with - although it will get easier the more you use it and focus on aligning the nib. You mentioned the broad and BB being almost stub nibs: this is a throwback to how pens used to be made in Germany and Lamy has just carried on the traditional way of doing things (the same is true with Montblanc's B, BB and BBB nibs). Lamy deserve credit here for producing this pen with 7 nib options (which puts them in the same league as Montblanc) and way ahead of many of their peers like Pelikan. All in all, a great pen that you could use for years.

Absolutely love mine. It was my grail pen. Now that I have it, I don’t need anything else. Of course that won’t stop me from buying other pens.

Wish I had seen your review before I purchased the Lamy 2000 medium nib. It is indeed just a hair too broad for me. Fortunately, I was able to exchange for the fine nib. I actually purchased the 2000 rollerball first for about $50 new. After figuring out how to adapt Pilot G2 gel refills, it is exceptional with the exact form factor as the fountain pen. Thanks for your video!

I have the stainless steel edition with the M nib and it writes great 😊 however it has two downsides. First, there is no ink window, so no way to know when you are about to run out of ink. Second, it's a heavy pen, so posted it becomes too heavy for long writing sessions, especially since I hold near the nib. Unposted it's perfect, so does not bother me much. BTW great review 👍😊

Great video, good review. Only one bit of feedback. The nib isn't white gold. It's 'regular' gold that was platinum coated.

Got it and love it. But the position sensitivity is defintely a thing. Took me a while to get used to it.

Consummate design, flawless ergonomics, perfect balance (posted or not); my initial concern prior to purchase was two-fold: I have enormous hands, & I am a lefty. Those so-called 'constraints' were wholly unfounded; my 2000 wrote straight out of the box - no 'sweet spot' or grip issues. I would consider that most of the complaints in regard to this scribe are more to do with preferential handling of same when placing nib to paper - pen rotation whilst writing is a good example; the key (as I perceive it) is to make minor adaptations - if you have to. I think that were you to canvass a good cross section of fountain pen users, there would be no, one particular grip for a range of pens that they may own. What this boils down to is the good ol' chesnut ~ subjectivity.
True, from an aesthetic point of view, it's not going to be to everyone's taste - & in that regard, should not necessarily be bought on the premise of Lamy's world-reknowned design concepts (tho' doubtless, the company may argue that point).
Nicely conveyed overview - thank you !

…still a beautifully designed pen, though—and another terrific review. Thanks, Blake!

It's an excellent pen and an iconic design. I have one with a medium nib and I have to say it's a very juicy medium.

Hello, quick question: does your Lamy's clip move(wobble) up and down and side to side???? Just got a Lamy 2000 FP and my clip moves, I have been reading online and many complain about this!

I’ve had this on a web page so many times and just keep moving away from. I want to try one so need to get out somewhere to try one out first 🙂👍🏻

Good morning. Do you feel the grip section slippery or you can hold the pen without any effort ? Thank you !
