We've crossed paths with Firefox OS before, but today marks the first time we've played with handsets running the final build of Mozilla's mobile software. The Alcatel OneTouch Fire and ZTE Open you see above are the same hardware we saw at MWC earlier this year -- in fact, the latter just launched in Spain on Telefónica for €69 ($90) contract-free including €30 ($39) of airtime for prepaid customers.

What he meant was its laggy when compared to Ubuntu Touch. Though it is on a very low end phone and what do you expect for something less and £100. As the saying goes you get what you buy. Great for kids IMHO

it only released 2 phones for now yet too many criticism and haters already? firefox os is just starting people so its not fully capable to compete with android, ios, or windows. it will get better if they gather many support and partnership. geez you haters are hopeless thinking that you know everything.

If you're coming from an Apple device, trust me, that's laggy. But for it's price range I suppose it performs well enough.

The work being done is to remove the dependance on Android for hardware/drivers.

ARM SoC driver dev is a major problem.

people forgot how android phone initially made was.. htc hero, dream galaxy gio, y etc.. they have almost the same spec as this "newcomer" phone. chillzz

Ubuntu for ARM has been out for a while. You do have to be competent enough to install an OS on a device and have root access.

I understand that Firefox OS is supposed to be simple and geared towards people who cannot afford high-end phones, but for the price, isn't it still better to get a cheap Android?
