I work night security from 10pm till 6 am and things get weird midnight to sun rise, I was sitting in the side seat of my truck watching a building and rarely do I ever nod off but I did one time due to a double shift, well I heard someone say excuse me sir and I woke up and jumped out and looked around and no one was there, I thought maybe I was just asleep so started to yawn and try and shake off the sleepiness then I felt someone tap me on my shoulder and I turned around to find no one. Another time I was doing some paper work waiting for 1st shift to relieve me, he was the site supervisor and I had gotten to be friends with him, well I looked up from my clip board to see him walking by the windows of the guard shack and heard him say his usual greeting Hey buddy, I said hey your early and went to side door to open it for him and when I did he was wasn't there, thought he went to the porter potties on side and didn't see him go in, I waited 10 mins and thought did he fall in and went to check, not there then I checked his parking place not there, I just didn't know what to think so just went back, well time went on way past time for him to show up and I thought did he leave on an emergency and couldn't tell me, well I got a call from headquarters and was told I need to stay till they get someone to relieve me cause I'll call him Joe, had been found unresponsive in his bed and paramedics are trying to revive him, he ended up dying. But he still visits time to time ill just hear hey buddy and nobody there

I used to work as a security officer at Leeds Castle in Kent, UK. The night shift always had that element of 'what's out there'. If you weren't stationed in the castle itself or one of the many buildings then the exterior was pitch dark, as in you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. The grounds had to be patrolled on occasion and driving around then walking with only a torch got the adrenaline pumping I can tell you. Hearing the wind in the trees, the sound of water, the nocturnal animals in the brush and the many ghosts stories surrounding the place.

I love the nightshift. So relaxing knowing everyone is asleep and I won't be bothered. And then in the morning you get to head home while everyone heads in the opposite direction going to work. I pretty much have that entire side of the highway to myself.

I worked night shift at a hotel for a decade. Never again. The ghost was actually the best part of that job

As a night shifter, these stories make me feel so much better about the things I’ve experienced.

My mother worked as a nurse in a London hospital during the sixties. She did the night shift for a few years and told stories of footsteps with nobody there in the hall, room alarms going off for no reason and elderly patients getting out of secure beds with side rails saying "deceased loved ones had helped them out of the bed" when questioned later. Very scary.

I worked one night shift and there was something weird that happened. There really isn't any reason this location had paranormal activity, so I always brushed it off, but I like telling the story anyways.

Working at a chain pharmacy in New Hampshire overnight. It was overnight the day after Christmas Day. This pharmacy always reset the holiday aisle this night since there was a lot to change and I wanted overtime. Working with my store manager that night, and it was she and I and no one else.

The store itself had the internal lights on a timer. When they dim to just the security lights, we would need to just go to the office and press a button near the top of the door which would flip the lights back to full, and off of back up power / security lights. And just so happens that when we were cleaning up and putting things in the back room, the lights dimmed and we would need to hit the button. The back room was two stories, and my boss was in the back putting product shelves on the organizer and I was closer to the stairs, so I just ran down and pushed the button.

As I left the office, I hear a faint, but absolutely clear, female voice say "thaaaank youu!" as if someone was yelling it from the other end of the store, like near the registers or the coolers with the drinks, so I figured my boss was grabbing more stuff to bring upstairs. But when I went to the back upstairs, she was still there putting away shelves. It was weird, and I didn't make much of it, but about 2 or 3 minutes after I got upstairs, I had to ask her... "were you upstairs the whole time when I went down to the office?" She said yes. After another minute, I asked her "did you yell down 'thank you' when I flipped the lights back?" to which she laughed and said no, but told me she was seeing or hearing weird stuff all night, and didn't want to tell me.

I asked other people who worked at the store longer than I had, and apparently there was a lot of people who heard or saw weird things working at night at that place.

One of your best collections of stories.
I worked the nightshift as a young man back in the 1980s, on the cleaning crew in a vast sprawling ancient warehouse and factory that has since been demolished. It was huge, quiet, mysterious with giant pillars receding into the vast darkness of the place, which comprised several large buildings. Never encountered anything scary though, and honestly kind of loved it, even though it was dirty and exhausting work. Was more scared of roaches crawling inside my pants legs more than anything.

Police made the right decision to keep the doors shut. That's when you make sure all the doors and windows are locked and walk back to the security room.

I have been a security officer for about 15 years and worked night shift a long time before being promoted and moved over to days ... You're right about the night hours being a vulnerable time for such things to happen. I have had a number of encounters with ghosts on night shift and strange other things happening

Being in my local mall after closing is an eerie experience. My work in inventory would have me there sometimes past midnight. All of the lights and music are still on, but it's devoid of people. But far in the distance, you'll see movement. You get down there, and there's nothing. You'll hear things like babies crying or dogs barking, strange loud bangs in the distance, birds, occasional voices. Sometimes you'll hear one of the stores' roll down gates rattle like someone is shaking it. I mentioned these things to one of the night guards, and she just shrugged saying she knows. She's seen and heard all kinds of things.

The story of Carl the security officer with the weird purple wasteland phenomenon was really good as was the art, Wish there was more to that!

Just clocked into my nightshift at a hospital, working alone at an isolated post. Great way to start my shift with this video. Greetings to all my fellow nocturnal peeps out there and be safe.

That last one was really bizarre; unlike any of the other stories I've heard relating to strange occurrences.

I used to work as a night Watchman at a warehouse complex on my own there are times were the mind plays tricks on you and can make you more jumpy than encountering trespassers.

At my previous job, cook for a local gas station in a small town in eastern Pennsylvania, we would have some unusual things happen randomly. We would hear disembodied voices in areas where no one was or when there was no customers in the store. It was especially strange when I’d hear one of my colleagues say my name from an area, but they were in a different area. We’d have what sounded like a pizza pan fall on the floor in areas that wouldn’t make sense to hear the sound come from.

I had seen shadow figures on several occasions. One time, I was in the middle of cleaning the grill that we’d put hot dogs and other things on. When I happen to look up slightly and I saw what looked like someone walking past the cooler where we had different types of drinks in. I had a perfect lane of sight to see if there were someone over in that area of the store and I would be able to see what they were wearing, because there was two aisles that allowed me to see a person with nothing blocking my view. The only thing I saw when I looked up was a pair of completely black legs, basically just the knees down, walking past that area. I quickly checked to see if there was someone that had gone to the front to checkout, but there was nobody there. Another time, I was cleaning dishes from my area. The coworker that was also in the store was in the back and there was no one else in the store. We were chatting about lord knows what, when I happen to look out of the corner of my left eye and saw what looked like the shadow of somebody’s head peaking around the corner looking right at us, but it was at the height that didn’t make any sense for a person’s head to be since it was lower than the sink that I was at. I ran past my coworker to see if I could catch whatever it was that was popping it’s head around the corner but there was nothing there. My coworker asked why I ran out the back room outta nowhere. I told him what I had just seen and he didn’t know what to make of it.

When we had to close overnight, some of my colleagues would end up staying after hours to finish working the cooler and other things. I can’t confirm whether any of these happened since I was done with my shift a few hours before the store was closed due to me being the person that made food. Anyway, one of my colleagues had witnessed what she described as someone walking past the cooler doors while she was in the cooler putting product on the shelves for the next day. She would always do a double check in the store to make sure there wasn’t anyone in the store that wasn’t supposed to be in the store. She would also hear what sounded like someone opening one of the cooler doors to grab something even though there was no one else in the store.

One time when I was there for the morning shift in my area, I went in the cooler to do a temperature check, and when I walked there was a random bottle of some drink just sitting in the middle of the walkway in the cooler. I asked the two other people that were there for the morning shift in the front if they know why there was a bottle sitting in the middle of the floor and they didn’t know why it was there. We all kinda just sat there joking about it saying things like, “The Ghost must’ve gotten thirsty overnight, ” and “The Ghost is playing a prank.”

On several occasions I would get this feeling of there being someone standing behind me in random parts of the store. Sometimes it would be in my area, other times it would be in a random spot like the back room. I remember feeling someone even tapping me on the shoulder to get my attention, but when I’d turn my head, there’d be nobody there.

Apparently, there was someone that worked there that had past away in the cooler from a medical condition during an overnight shift. I’m not sure if this individual could be particularly responsible for some of the activity at that gas station, but it could be possible that they’re also there. I’ve felt that there were other things that were lurking in shadows of that place. Whether it was just some random trickster spirit, a dead worker, or something much darker, I’ll never know. One thing I know is that there was definite something that called that gas station it’s home.

Say that first story gave me a brilliant idea for a future topic: accounts by first responders (police, firefighters, EMTs, etc.). There are some pretty chilling accounts that were witnessed by very credible witnesses that deserve to be told on this esteemed channel.

Long before first hearing stories about the 'little people' of Alaska, I felt their presence on my property there. I never felt fear but did have a sense of uneasiness sometimes and feeling they were near. Thankfully I never saw them. I somehow knew that they were 'gnomes' but don't know how I knew, if that makes sense. They seemed to have an interest in my garden but I never noticed anything missing or damaged. Very weird, my dog was also aware of them.

As a lonely, frightened man, I find great comfort in these stories of other people feeling the same, albeit temporarily.
