I do think Liza has lost her core fanbase from YouTube and Vine, but as you guys said, she's a talented host and creator, and they're not just using her for her fanbase anymore.

I think the issue for me is she went too mainstream and lost the connection with her audience. Young people aren’t watching the kind of things she’s doing now. People liked her for her personality and not necessarily for her acting (which I think is a bit over the top). It sort of reminds me of what Troye Sivan did but I think lately he’s gone back and reconnected with his audience on tiktok. I don’t see Liza on social anymore only super professional settings and because she started on social it’s a weird disconnect. Just my 2 cents.

This title is really heartbreaking if you truly think about it. So many of my favorite creators over the years have disappeared or vanished. It's so difficult to maintain your head on right while you manage to please millions of humans. Colin and Samir, please never disappear 😢

We have to understand that being a youtuber is not a forever job. People grow up even the content creator and their priorities and likes change throughout the years. Its the entertainment industry and the same thing will happen to the next person that will rise.

She’s my ex’s cousin and I met her several times at family events. Her personality is so charming and jovial. She is so cute and I just remember her smile literally lit up the room. She was so friendly and sweet and down to earth. It’s so amazing that she did what she did and had one of the fastest growing YouTube channels.

This is exactly why I wasn’t surprised to hear Emma says she’s stepping back from YouTube. I can’t imagine the psychological affect this would’ve had on me, I’m the same age as Liza and she blows my mind.

I completely forgot about Liza until I saw her becoming friends with Sabrina Carpenter. I never realized she took a break, but then again I think it's cause I kept seeing her pop up at random events online as a host/interviewer.

I'm glad to see she's moving on as her life changes rather than feeling the need to remain on YouTube for the duration of her career. Does anyone know what she's up to now? Is it interviews and acting still?

"She just finished the first chapter of her career" feels weird but makes so much sense!

We follow these people closely for so long, but in the long run, it's just the beginning. It's very interesting to see how creators evolve and their content changes over time, and I'm so excited to see how the platform evolves with it.

I'm in the process of changing my content too. My channel grew from making short comedy skits, but now I'm moving forward to challenge my writing ability so one day hopefully I can publish comics or even direct shows!

“I think it takes a lot more than 6 seconds for people to understand me” Well said Colin!

One can really miss a creator... I really miss BestDressed and sometimes Emma Chamberlain. I certainly missed Liza's characters for a while.

“mr. beast style viewership on just her personality” — what a perfect way to say that

I love Liza. From the first second I saw a clip of her, I loved her. She's pure talent and she's barely even started. Excited for all the awesomeness to come from her.

I miss Liza, she was actually entertaining. But I think that the whole vlog squad shit was the thing that pushed her away from youtube. We dont really know how bad it was from the inside, we only know the stuff we're seeing now... which is really sad cause she's awesome.

Joana Ceddia disappeared from Youtube. She was the Emma Chamberlain for the "i'm not like other girls who watch Emma chamberlain" demographic (if that makes sense lol). Take Emma Chamberlain but make her a little nerdy and less profane. She would be a really intresting person to delve into. It all went downhill after she started her topical steroid withdrawal process. She deleted her channel w/o saying bye :(

oh my gosh, this is THE youtube meta-analysis I needed right now... what a unique and analytical conversation on the evolution of a talented youtube star. Loved the point about moving from single-personality to a production environment through the vehicle of talent!
