Makita Grinder Soft Start Retrofit + Switch Replacement HOW TO

My big Makita grinder has always had a problem with the switch where it occasionally just would not start. When it started it produced such a startup surge that it often tripped the braker.
Quite annoying. To solve the issue, I replaced the switch and retrofitted a soft starter in an epic, adventurous journey. So come with me! Let's learn together!

Tripping the breaker is a nuisance but the kick from those big Makita’s is the reall problem.!!! Great upgrade- wonder how long those little boxes of tricks will last though.!!👍

One good tip is that if you do more cutting then grinding, you can rotate the handle the hold it more comfortably

Thats a real man grinder . I have that 7 inch and the 9 ga9040s. On that model it just have a big resistor to soft start .

You should get yourself a decent crimp tool. Seriously useful in situations like these. I'd recommend getting the smaller size one + dies for the bigger one (which you can get using the code on the side of the tool). Past the initial investment in the tool, the crimps are cheap.

Can you put a link for soft start module? I got same amp guzzler from makita like you.its a good angle grinder but it trips 16A brakers like crazy.
