I had suggested to a number of other emerging investment you tubers to begin focusing on Chamath, but no one took me up on it, probably due to amount of research and breadth required to look at his myriad of investments. I believe that demand for buses will decline as autonomous taxis become widespread. Seems to me that most people currently take the bus because they either can't drive or don't want to waste time driving (could be doing something else) or driving their own car to particular destinations comes with challenges (like expensive parking). The bus provides a relatively inexpensive solution to their problem (compared to current taxis/ridesharing), but commonly at the cost of not having a custom/point-to-point route (unlike current taxis/ridesharing), which is an inconvenience. Assuming that autonomous taxis would have a significantly lower cost-per-mile than current taxis/ridsharing, it seems crazy that someone would take a bus if they can have a relatively cheap custom/point-to-point route (as well as privacy) while also having the benefits of a bus (not having to waste time driving/parking or worrying about something happening to their car). However, that's just my view and I could be completely wrong!

The biggest hurdle for every EV wannabe will be getting enough batteries. Tesla is already manufacturing their own. Will Proterra be able to secure enough of them or start their own manufacturing? That's the billion dollar question.

We have those BYD busses riding in the east of the Netherlands. Many problems. So my bet is on Proterra.

I feel that the EV bus market is quite limited in the US as most would prefer cars. But the market for electric heavy vehicle would be huge. They are certainly late to this market as BYD is already well established. But as you mentioned, the government support might be the key

The funny thing is that the $NKLA business scam would have been much more believable had they gone for hydrogen buses. They wouldn't have pretended to be able build 700 hydrogen filling stations across America. One or few in each city where their buses would have operated would have been enough!
