Sir, you are a GENIUS. This really cleared it up for me. Swinging the rhythm sounds cliché and mad corny, but accenting the off beats while playing that beautiful line in straight time sounds ELEGANT AND SOPHISTICATED. Bravo, brother

Love your visual set up. We can see the fingerings & how it looks on paper. This is a help to horn players who are not trained on keyboards but "noodle" on Pno to understand the changes. A great lesson on the FEEL of a Melodic line. "So THAT'S how Oscar can swing like mad". You show what's going on, & how what we HEAR works. Thank you.

I learned, from a very accomplished jazz sax player, when ascending swing 8ths, accent on the beat. When descending access the off/up beat, as Corey illustrates here. From hearing him play, I think he's correct.

Hey Corey!! I love your videos, they are so helpful for learning as a solo pianist. Would you ever consider recording your lessons as MIDI tracks and releasing those along with the sheet music?

So you just move on past the move at 3:39. Lol...excellent lesson!

Is this accenting the off-beats, when you're playing semiquavers then, as opposed to standard swing quavers?

Greetings sir.
I would like to know how to improvise on a harmonic grid of a jazz standard.
I am an amateur of improvisation. Thank you

I never think of putting the 3 and #9 in the same octave but with the #5 above it's really nice.

Watched a few of your excellent vids, so checked our your twitter feed. Shouldn't have. Sax? Jordan Peterson? Really? Pseudoscience, and hyperbole in the name of making a buck.
