99.99% filtration for 0.3 micron particles

This mask can be purchased on Amazon.

This video demonstrates some testing that we performed on the 3M 6800 Full Face Mask. We are using 3M 2091 P100 filters. The mask is tested using a custom setup. We took a mannequin head and drilled three holes and placed plastic tubes through the head to measure air from different areas. One tube goes to the forehead. One holes goes to the mouth. One hole goes to the nose. The forehead and nose holes are used to sample air in different compartments. In this video we using the forehead and nose tubes. The air from the mask goes to a four part manifold which allows the air to be measured by the PCE particle counter. The mouth hole is connected to a tube which will allow us to eventually simulate breathing. We are still working on this part of the set up. The four sections manifold allows sampling of the ambient air and also to flush the manifold with filtered air using a ventilator filter for filtration. The PCE particle counter measures particles as small as 0.3 microns. A micron is 1/1000 of a millimeter.

The one downside to this mask is that exhalation port is not filtered. If you are an asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19 you can spread the virus with this mask. There is also no voice diaphragm which makes talking somewhat difficult. The mask itself is quite comfortable and the seal is made of nice soft rubber like material.

Based on the measurements we made, this mask should work against COVID-19. Nonetheless, this mask was not designed for biologic particles and caution should be used when using this device for this purpose.

We use this particle counter from PCE for the testing device PCE-PQC 10.

Can't believe you did this. Wow thank you so much

This is insane Idk why this doesn't come up as first recommended. I spent hours researching the best face masks to use especially for my elderly parents during covid and after an hour of research this is such a sigh of relief. Thank you

From all the videos one can search in youtube to learn about respirators and filters because of the coronavirus pandemic, this should be in the top 5, because it is the only video that actually gives you precise data about filtration capacity, something that even the manufacturers doesn't show you.

Awesome and straight to the point, thank you!

Hello--love this video! You should be on Twitter, there are a bunch of mask threads on there, but not enough attention to elastomerics. The big issue with elastomerics and Covid is the exhalation valve, since CDC scared everybody about those. I use a Narwall mask, which is based on a snorkel concept (slightly different than the one you modified).

Would it be possible for you to test the Narwall? My worry about it is they use a different measure than N95 etc.--Viral Filtration Efficiency. The filter material is not meltblown, but has an electrostatic charge (which wears off when?).

But the mask does not have an unfiltered exhalation valve, as I have to explain at the hospital etc., so that's a plus. It's also comfortable and easy to put on/take off. P.S. I saw Honeywell (or 3M?) has started making an exhalation valve plug for their masks, don't know how that affects performance.

I am curious how this compares to the half masks, is the seal/filtration really that much better, or is the benefit just the eye protection?

Thanks for your wonderful work! Please kindly test the 3M 2297 or 2291 or both. 3M claims these thinner, easier breathing filters have the same performance as 2091. In my experience, that's did not seem true. Would be most grateful if you can test them out. Thanks!

How long do those filters last for? i use them pretty much all day cause I’m a casting grinder and no one told me when to swap them out

Great demonstration. Are these a good choice for nuclear fallout. How long do you think each filter can last in a fallout scenario

Is it possible to wear surgical loupes while wearing the mask?

Really good video. I have a half face mask size large but its so uncomfortable. It has to be so tight when I do the exhale test to ensure no air seeps out that part of the mask on my nose or straps around my ears dig into my skin. Any tips on that? Am I tightening it too much?

The best part about 3M respirators is: They are cheap! And I have no idea why?! They used to be hundreds of dollars at the start of the pandemic, and their prices took one hell of a nose dive. I vaguely remember the 6900 full face respirator was about $350 in early 2020, now it's about $120.

Hello Miki, thats the One. Where I can found it and the filters? Thank you very much for chare🙏

I assume that the P100 filters would be more than sufficient to filter out mortar/concrete dust when mixing it. I was previously using simple 3M N95 masks and I just didn’t feel confident I was getting a good seal and was afraid I was inhaling dust that would later harden or cause me other health issues.

I’d buy that set up from you, if you’re willing to make me one.

Hello
How are (Gas Cartridge Particulate 7093), (Multi Gas/Vapor Cartridge 60926) and (Organic Vapor Cartridge 60921) P100 Filters are different?
Which should we use for better protection against covid?

After how much usage time, the P100 filters has to be replaced by new one
