I love your pumpkins. I made pumpkins years ago, but didn't do them on the bias, I will definitely give that a try. I have a couple of tips for you: 1) if you use quilt thread for the hand gathering part, you will only need to do 1 row 2) if you make your gathering stitches longer, the hole will gather up tighter, I know that doesn't sound right, but it works. Love the fabric you used for your pumpkin. Its only July, but it's never to early to make fall stuff, so I will go through my fabric stash, and make a pumpkin (or several). I just looked for tutorials on making fabric pumpkins. I thought you did a great job of showing step-by-step and spoke slowly and clearly. I was glad to learn how to measure for various sizes. I didn't think the pumpkin was complicated but might be for someone inexperienced in hand or machine sewing. I'll pass this on to a group of senior ladies I conduct stitching workshops for. A nice touch to these cute pumpkins might be to take some ribbed fabric ribbon (a thin ribbon) tie it around the stem and use your scissors to curl them. Thus making the tendrils seen on pumpkins in the pumpkin patch.

I’ve made these pumpkins, and I hot glued a wine cork as a stem. It turned out really cute.

Great project !! I've made several. You can also use the fabric felt itself to make little green tendrils around the stem. Looks more realistic than ribbon. Just roll the felt same as the stem is done and cut little thin strips..they sort of curl on their own.

Thank you. I love your idea of cutting on the bias as it definitely gives a much nicer smooth finish to the shape (especially for pincushions where all those tucks are annoying).
