In the 1960's and 1970's I was raised in a very, very strict Southern Baptist Church. As a child and young adult, I felt the preacher yelled and screamed at us every service. He yelled we were sinners until his face was red a big vein would pop out of his forehead. He was so angry at us. He made us feel God's rath was coming upon us. He would tell us our duty in life was to serve God and others and never have a selfish thought for ourselves. We went to church twice on Sundays, Wednesday night prayer meetings, Thursday night visitations. We knocked on doors and handed out church newsletters inviting people to our church. Misery loves company huh? I've never got over that "religious trauma"? So, when I left home, I didn't go back. I'm a good person. Everything I am and everything I have is because of God and his love and influence in my life. I didn't leave God; I left the church. I believe in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit has influenced my life and I am saved, I am baptized, and I love God with all my heart, and he knows my heart. I feel his presence in life although like most I would like a closer relationship with him. I recently found your channel and I love your message and the way you present it. Maybe in your opinion this isn't a substitute for actually going to a church, but it's a good church for me for now anyway. Thank You for your messages as they lift my spirit and help heal my soul.

God gives us strength to overcome all of our struggles we must keep faith even through our hardships. Only God knows the burdens we face. I’m a single mom and it can be hard to have everything on my shoulders. Especially because both of my sons are special needs but despite the challenges I face. I keep faith in Jesus even as I struggle to pay rent and as I struggle to buy groceries for my children. As christians that’s all we can do.
