I may be wrong, but wouldn't it have been wise to sail /motor the boats to another harbor on the western side of the Gulf? There may be more to boating then I know, like fees to place a boat on another pier. If I had a boat that was my home, I would take it out to sea where no hurricanes were blowing, thrown out an anchor and waited out a week.
