This game had me laughing the whole way through. The dialogue is so worth reading everytime it pops up. Like once this became a metroidvania, I almost fell out my chair because of what was said as it transitioned. Funniest platformer ever!

This game is a 10/10. I also got lost in the second half but then i realized, that the shopkeeper marks your target destination on the map for 300 crystals! Replaying the old levels with the time travel spin is awesome!!

To me the The metroidvania transition for me made the game go from "a game I can play and have fun" to "a game I'll play for 8 hours straight without realising any time has passed at all and having a hell of a lot of fun while doing so"

I've just finished the game, and don't agree at all with the negative points Saltzman saw in this game. Coming back to the past levels was super fun because there's allways a reason to be there, to unlock new levels and bosses, and it's easy to get there since you can "buy" hints of where you have to go next to avoid wasting your time. The only tedious backtracking is trying to get all the power seals, because those are usually far away from teleport portals, but that's entirely optional.

I was waiting for this game since I saw the demo some months ago. I always thought the 8bit nostalgia craze was a bit worn out so the fact that this game has such a clever plot-twist to finally go for 16-bit era aesthetics and metroidvania mechanics is just what I was looking forward to. I hope it gets enough support to warrant more from these developers!

For anyone scrolling through the comments wondering whether or not they should get this game, you totally should. For me this game is a 10/10 and I didn't have a problem with most of the "negatives" he talked about in the video. Compared to some modern day games The Messenger can drag a bit but overall it's a fantastic game that has easily become one of my favorite retro inspired games, one of my favorite platformers, and just one of my favorite games overall. I love this game, and I encourage *anyone* who's on the fence about it to give it a go.

First half was brilliant and last half was great. The time travel mechanic felt a bit underutilized, but I really liked the difficulty and plot twists. One of the best games I've played in a long time.
