Quantum entanglement, also called the quantum non-local connection, is a property of a quantum mechanical state of a system of two or more objects in which the quantum states of the constituting objects are linked together so that one object can no longer be adequately described without full mention of its counterpart—even if the individual objects are spatially separated in a spacelike manner.

The property of entanglement was understood in the early days of quantum theory, although not by that name. Quantum entanglement is at the heart of the EPR paradox developed by Albert Einstein, Boris Podolsky, and Nathan Rosen in 1935. This interconnection leads to non-classical correlations between observable physical properties of remote systems, often referred to as nonlocal correlations.

Quantum mechanics holds that observables, for example spin, are indeterminate until some physical intervention is made to measure an observable of the object in question. In the singlet state of two spin, it is equally likely that any given particle will be observed to be spin-up or spin-down.

Measuring any number of particles will result in an unpredictable series of measurements that will tend to a 50% probability of the spin being up or down. However, the results are quite different if this experiment is done with entangled particles. For example, when two members of an entangled pair are measured, their spin measurement results will be correlated.

Two (out of infinitely many) possibilities are that the spins will be found to always have opposite spins (in the spin-anti-correlated case), or that they will always have the same spin (in the spin-correlated case). Measuring one member of the pair therefore tells you what spin the other member would have if it were also measured. The distance between the two particles is irrelevant.

"Where is the wierd?" I'll tell you where - those bloody animated characters.

I think the idea is that things can't travel faster than the speed of light. But information exchanged over quantum entanglement doesn't 'travel', per se, it's instantaneously received by the entangled particle. But yeah, you could use it to communicate over distances. It's already been used to teleport individual particles over distances - Particle A is placed at one side of the entangled system, is destroyed, and recreated at the other end.

Well done!
You have express the idea of 'quantum weirdness' better than most, that I have read/seen.
Keep up the good work. I am sure that I shall enjoy seeing your other videos.
Decided to subscribe. *smiles*

Im still trying to wrap my brain around this stuff. Thanks for taking the time to explain it.

This is what blows my mind, its the entanglement. Meaning, one piece of matter dependent on the other, even if its on the other side of the entire Universe. For over 20 years, I've pondered this and get goose bumps.

The one thing I have yet to be convinced about is how do you know that these particles are randomly spinning and not in the spin state that you measure them at? It's kind of unconvincing when you say there is no way of knowing the spin unless you measure it and once you measure it then it becomes locked in that state. So how would you ever measure or know that it was flip flopping between states and that whether you measure the particle now or in a million years, that is the state you will get?

For a simplistic example of my confusion, you flip a coin and put your hand over it. According to entanglement, the coin is flipping back and forth between heads and tails and it doesn't become one or the other until you look at it. Then you look at and it's a heads. How do you know it was flipping between heads and tails and wasn't just heads the entire time and its entangled partner wasn't just tails the entire time?

This gives me a great idea about devices which allow us to send information instantly, wherever we are in the universe.

Great question, I've been asking myself that question too!?

I was wrong to think that Einstein said “Spooky action at a distance” as an 'explanation' for entanglement when in fact he was just being sarcastic towards scientists who treated entanglement as a fundamental property instead of a phenomenon that needs scientific explanation. Now I have even more respect for Einstein.

I got the entanglement explained by a physicist. He told me, it's like splitting a coconut in 2, and placing each piece in its own black box. If you bring one of the boxes to the moon, and if they're both untouched, you'll still be able to tell the state the coconut in the box left on earth by opening the box on the moon and vice versa.

I got it now! I never understood it on paper but I finally got it! That and wave function collapse. Thanks you guys

Neat video!
This is an invitation to see an artist theory on the physics of light and time!
This theory is based on two postulates
1. Is that the quantum wave particle function Ψ represents the forward passage of time ∆E ∆t ≥ h/2π itself
2. Is that Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle ∆×∆p×≥h/4π that is formed by the w- function is the same uncertainty we have with any future event that we can interact with turning the possible into the actual!
