All aboard! Come along for Steam Trains Galore Part 2! We will visit a variety of different steam railroads in the western United States in the states of California, Nevada, and Colorado. As with the first video in the series, a wide variety of steam trains are included in a wide array of climates: everything from tall pine forests and coastal redwoods to high desert and scrub brush. In a similar style the the original Steam Trains Galore, this video features no distracting captions and no narration, only the sounds of the trains and nature. At the end of the video, a full list of the railroads where this video was filmed is included.

Steam Trains Galore 2 is sure to put smiles on the faces of everyone from 1 to 92, so hop aboard for this exciting adventure!

As always, comments are encouraged and appreciated!

18:31 Start of the Sierra Railway #3, AKA, the Polar Express whistle! Quite literally my favorite steam engine whistle of all time! Thanks for including the tiny but might train with a strong whistle! Love it so much CoasterFan!

I grew up in Fort Bragg, California, and used to see #45 all the time. As a teenager, I was part of the model railroad club that operates a layout in a building right next to the depot, and on weekends I'd bring my model trains and help run the layout. When #45 was running, I'd always go outside when I heard it coming and feel the ground shake as it rolled by, not 20 feet from where I stood. I recent moved a long way away, and this video brings back memories. Man, I miss the Skunk Train.

Love that red loco at the start. Looks like an old freighter judging by the small diameter drivers. That whistle she has is awesome too!

Brings back very special and unique memories of riding and blaring horns on old steam locomotives. Let me just say these were rare privileged moments from the sixties. To be able to ride with the engineer and coal feeder on these huge, power monsters as a kid in his preteens, my most thrilling moment had to be when I could blast the loud horn by pulling the string (rope) overhead at will.
Only when approaching a blind corner, unmanned crossings and the train stations he told me but I just couldn't resist doing it at will. He just laughed at my young mischievousness and the chuckle it brought from me. I still love the sound of the whistle (horn) when one goes by.

I just want to say a big thank you for posting this footage. My little boy is obsessed with trains and he watches these on a daily basis with such joy. We don't live in an area where we have year-round access to steam trains like this, so being able to see it on Youtube is a treat for him, especially in the cold months when the train museums are closed.

Love all of the videos of the steam locomotives. I'm from a small town in Tennessee and we at one time had a steam train and it was called number 1 of the clinchfield railroad. But when CSX came in here we lost our little steam train. I wish the people and the town would get it back home ☹️☹️😡😡

Wow! Romantic! The words "Passengers do not sleep, but there is silence around, Outside the window, the sound of wheels, in the lights of the city. "

One of the very best vids I've seen on steam trains!  The term "galore" is most appropriate.  The variety is astounding : wood- and coal-burning locos (and the appropriate chimney!), 2- and 4-cylinders and geared locos, genuine 4-4-0 American and 4-6-0 ten-wheelers, all types of old cars..
A regal!
Thanks CoasterFan!

From Australia. I wished we kept our steam locos. Most of them are in mothballs and are too costly to run on mainline routes. Enjoyed your video. Thanks.
