Ford has hinted that the Transit will have more range in the future. It would be great to have one with a 300 mile range like the lightning.
I want to build a stealth camper van and Im waiting for the Transit EV.

Lots of people complain about lower range ev stuff but this really is perfect for city contractors like me. A normal day is about 20 miles and a big day is maybe 50 miles a day.

I got a chance to go over a pair of E Transits and talk to a Ford engineer. Here are some additional options.

Yes, a large variety of body styles are available, including cut-aways. I was told an ambulance body is possible.
There are several battery configurations in the works for different use cases. Something I hadn't considered is the impact of battery size on load carrying capacity. Specing out the largest battery will reduce load capacity.

I mentioned to Ford that they should consider a more powerful inverter option (5-6kW) for use with refrigeration systems. With that inverter this would make an ideal refrigerated delivery truck and would be very price competitive.

I was also told they were fully booked for next year, but given Ford's recent statements about increasing EV build rates that may have changed.

Thanks for covering this kind of vehicle. Most folks concentrate on the sexy/fast/expensive EVs, while it is the work-a-day commuter cars and fleet vehicles that will have the biggest impact in replacing emissions from ICE engines.

Maybe it's not the most appealing car to the majority of drivers, though I'd say everyone should be pleased when these will be driving in your neighborhood, delivering parcels and providing other services, instead of other ICE vans 😉

Great video but why not a bigger battery on this? 100 miles per charge is fairly low imo

I’m wandering Ford can double the batteries capacity for longer distance like 250 miles or 300 miles range in the near future?

My company is getting two of these to test. That range in and of itself seems like we would be ok, but let's add heat/AC use and watch it drop. Then we will always be loaded with our tools too. We also need an air compressor. The problem there is the shelving units the gasoline 350's have been getting will not allow a horizontal air compressor and I have yet to find a vertical gas compressor. This is going to be interesting to say the very least. They told me I'm getting one in May/June. So we'll see then what shows up.

i drive a 2018 ford transit for work and its a really strange super basic spec but with the ecoboost v6 and your right it does surprise people.

I want to use one as an RV, so I want more range, but I would be fine with anything over 200 miles. I think the Fiat/Ram van is going to be first over the mark in the US. I would imagine the RV upfitters should be along shortly to build an all electric, no propane camping van.
I have heard fleet buyers are a little hesitant to go electric, but hopefully they will change their minds and at least try them.

Love that electric vans are coming, surprised they’re only initially offering such a small battery, for repairmen a 108 mile range is fine but for delivery vehicles that seems to be low.
A lot of Amazon deliveries are contractors that are in Sprinter type vans and even UPS uses these style vans during “peak” holiday season to supplement their fleet.

I'm in the process of getting my pet transportation business going. I would prefer awd? Good towing capacity? Ev more then 100miles would be great. How expensive is it to charge? What is the federal rebate offer? How long does it take to charge.

I would lower payload and increase battery and range a lot for personal use. Nice headroom.

Ford transit EV owner here. Going on for days now. The range is definitely under promised, because this van is over delivering every single day I have range left over. My job takes me around 100 miles a day installing Best Buy electronics

I’ll get right away but 100 miles range it’s not enough .if in future will add close 300 miles like lightning they will have one more costumer for sure…
