The first time I heard this was in a small town skating rink in L.A. County when L.A. radio station KGFJ (ring and win!) on AM radio came to play live music. Zapp's Dance Floor was already very popular but this song was still new in mid summer 1982. The DJ announced the song and suddenly there was the introductory loud synthesizer sound and an explosion of the beat. There was no hip hop or boring beats yet, so this song was clean and unlike anything I had heard at that time. Planet Rock was hitting hard during this time because it was such a new kind of beat but everyone danced to it just like any other song. Break dancing was unheard of, so pop locking was about the only thing you saw and even that was pretty rare. Two years later everything would change for the worse.

Hamilton Ohio's own Roger Troutmann and Zapp. I grew up with his Daughters Hope and Dawn. 2 beautiful young ladies and knew many of his relatives. Roger and Larry would often visit the Elks lodge in Hamilton where I also lived and we would see him and Larry.

He was very talented. Somebody said, they didn't know Roger could play the harmonica as well as the voice box. I enjoy this because I can hear the different transformations in this song from other songs. 0:29 The harmonica is my favorite.

This was a jam when I was young and it still sounds good after all these years. We use to tear up the floor back then. Tuesday was the only night we stayed at home. What a good time we had.

Slayd5K, I just want to say, thank you for posting these wonderful songs. It is such a great presentation too. The turntable spinning takes me back to my youth sitting with my father and watching him spin these albums. It's bittersweet, and I appreciate the walk down memory lane.

Nice bit of Zappness. I like how in the middle (from 2:10 to 2:48) it switches to an almost Trouble Funk Go-Go sort of feel. Then reverts back to classic Zapp.
