People were intelligent in ancient times, probably more so than today. The lack of technology was their only hold back, and with these carvings, I think we are the ones lacking in technology instead of them.

The first diving tanks. Bags of air wouldn't let you submerge much.

Their horses have something in their mouths also.
Did they teach the horses to use the breathing apparatus also?
I suppose it's going to be a mystery for a very long time, unless the archeologists find a tablet or something that explains the
"diving horses".
But, most people believe that our ancestors weren't very intelligent for some odd reason, and they believe we are way more advanced nowadays, which is true in some ways and not so much in other ways.
But, our ancestors were certainly intelligent and they lived in time when it took a lot of smarts to survive.
I mean they had to invent tools for agriculture and they domesticated animals, they knew how to build magnificent buildings that we can't even build today.
They carved out and lifted stone that were thousands of tons, we have nothing, no machines to lift some of those megalithic stones today.
History is certainly fascinating!!

Это не дыхательные мешки. Все фигуры находятся на поверхности воды. Это плавсредства - надутые воздухом и плотно зашитые шкуры ( желудки) животных.
Воины были при оружии, без плавсредства на воде держаться бы не смогли.
можно увидеть сзади у пузырей отросток, закрытый пробкой. Передний отросток просто держат зубами для удобства.

Because animal skins stuffed with hay were used as floatation devices around this time. Its documented by Herodotus that Xerses army used them to help build a bridge to cross the Bosphorsus during the invasion of Greece that led to Marathon and Thermopoly (the 300) and about 500 years later Caesar talks about using them for rivers in Gaul
