I am a London bus driver, and we are not allowed to open the doors, anywhere other than at a bus stop. If a passenger slips or falls while not at a stop, and the driver has opened the doors for them, then it is gross misconduct as we are not insured.

These bus drivers are being watched by CCTV and if they pick up passengers outside their designated stop, then they could be sacked . Leave these drivers alone, they have enough to deal with on the roads and bad passengers .

I’m also a bus driver. I’d do the same. Not at a designated stop, then the driver isn’t insured. If he lets him On and he so much as trips or slips, the driver loses his job and a shit Ton of money out his back pocket.

Bro, im a bus driver, and I do the same. once i pull away from that bus stop or kurb, im not opening the doors for anyone. My job is to serve passengers on bus stops, not in the middle of traffic.

Become a bus driver and see how you find the job, there's highway codes to follow if that driver opened the doors and the person boarding tripped he is then able to sue the bus company then the driver will lose their job all because people can't get to the stop on time it's not a hail and ride bus service so do the job before posting videos of innocent bus drivers.

End up getting sacked for letting people on/off at places other than designated bus stops!! Unfortunately too many scammers nowadays who would purposely take a dive and put a claim in, society has made it this way not the drivers

Yeah, agree. We are told to open the doors at bus stops. if all drivers opened the doors anywhere, there would be no point in having bus stops. its also an insurance violation, if the guy got on here and tripped/ fell the driver could be be liable. It also confuses the drivers behind, which then makes them want to over take, which is another hazard. If the guy wanted to flag down a ride, he should just get a taxi...

The guy who made the video needs to drive a bus for a day, then he would understand why the doors did not open.

More than likely the guy would have pulled out a £20 note for a £3.80 ticket, or take ages to get the right change... lol

It depends on the service company policy. Some companies do allow pickups and drop offs mid route as long as its at a safe location. However bigger transit companies do not so don't be an asshole to be picked up at a non designated stop. I had numerous people bang on my bus to be picked up, either transit or Disneyland. Even families putting their own lives in danger jumping in front and blocking the bus after leaving the stop. At that point a staring contest is engaged.
