3D Orthotic Scanner

Typically, prescription orthotic casting has been accomplished by either the use of plaster casting or foam boxes. Accent on Feet has implemented a modern version of casting by capturing 3D electronic scans. This method is very accurate and avoids the mess of plaster. The scan only takes a few seconds and is sent electronically to the orthotic laboratory. We use a mini iPad connected to a camera to obtain the electronic image. We have also introduced something new to Canada which, with laser guidance, positions the feet in a proper position, without the strain of patients trying to hold their feet in position for extended periods of time.

This system is very unique as it doesn't use the typical computer mat patients stand on, capturing 2D, pressure information. Feet work in 3D not 2D.

Very cool! A long time ago I went for orthotics and I had to step into the foam box. But the technician pushed my feet down (instead of me putting my weight down) and it was hurting my instep. My last time I had my foot measured like in a shoe store and got the right size. The interesting part is the new shoes came with memory foam inserts which react to my body/foot heat to form them.
