Shearing day on a Virginia farm. We sheared over 100 alpacas here in a day and a half. As you can see, the animals aren't harmed or mistreated throughout the whole process, and the actual shearing only takes about four minutes. After which, they are back out in the pasture munching on hay and rolling in the sun, happy to be rid of their big thick coat in time for summer!

They are held down by the ropes but never pulled tight enough to hurt them, just to help them keep still so that they aren't accidentally cut. We also trim their toenails and do dental work if they need it, and the clients will often give injections to animals that need a vaccine booster. This is vitally important herd health work done efficiently and humanely!

Out in the middle of darkest Saskatchewan and inherited some alpacas needing haircuts. Got some kit but still just me and the wife to do the job, thank goodness for youtube and your video. I wish i could do this cleanly in 4 mins but we did get it done cleanly enough in 45 mins, beginners beware, and we will be better off next time now we know the score, couldn’t have done it without your video, so thank you very much.

This is the best I've seen of alpaca shearing. Everything is well planned out to keep the animal as relaxed as possible and to help the shearing go smooth and fast. The wool collection is immediate and clean. Well done, everybody, and happy alpaca.

I have used Adam for several years and absolutely love the job he does. He had his crew are exceptional, the animals are treated respectfully and I have never had an issue. I get my show blankets done just as I want them. I highly recommend him!

Anyhow, a perfect demonstration of how you should shear an alpaca, excellent job. And please don't underestimate the role of the guy that handles the alpaca, without him it would take a lot longer.

Wow! Professionals in action! Though I'm sure the animal does not enjoy being tied doen and shaved, nothing likes that, but their technique seems like an incredibly safe and humane way of harvesting alpaca fibre. Very awesome! Nice work. Another person commented that it was well planned out. Can't agree more.

nice job I can see they are a bit big for one person 2-3 people at least to do a quick, good job. I like the pulleys and the mattress you use for them to sit on.
