Chaves vs James HIGHLIGHTS: December 15, 2017 - PBC on FS1

Once-beaten welterweight Jamal James (22-1, 10 KOs) took on veteran contender Diego Chaves (26-3-1, 22 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round bout at Pioneer Event Center in Lancaster, California, on December 15, 2017. This fight was our co-main featured bout on Fox Sports 1 as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series.

In the opening round James used his jab and robust combinations, along with his significant height advantage from the outset in an attempt to set up the shots while Chaves looked to attack the body and close the distance. Both fighters traded attacks early, but it was James who broke through first with impressive technique and tenacity.

After stunning Chaves with a right hand, James went on the attack as his opponent stopped throwing punches. He took full advantage of the opportunity by perfectly placing the left hook to the body that sent Chaves down and eventually counted out by referee Tom Taylor.

Jamal James takes home his 22nd victory, while Diego Chaves adds another loss to his professional record.
