Adolescence (2025) Netflix Series Review

Netflix has dropped a limited series that is both relevant and timely called Adolescence. Something that makes this unique is that each hour-long episode is a continuous take. Is this just a gimmick or does it help the storytelling? A family’s world is turned upside down when 13-year-old Jamie Miller is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl who goes to his school. This series might remind you a bit of that Apple series Defending Jacob but it’s much deeper of a story with an impact that could leave you speechless… at least for a bit. Stephen Graham stars as the dad of Jamie, the boy accused of murder… and Graham is also one of the writers… but as the dad, he is so raw with his acting that his performance is effortless, disappearing fully into the role so that this begins to resemble real life rather than drama. Thanks for checking out my Adolescence (2025) Netflix Series Review!

The third episode with the kid and the psychologist is the most absorbing, compelling hour of TV I've watched in years. This should be shown in schools for years to come.

This was some of the best acting that I’ve ever seen! The young actor who played Jamie, and the actor, who played the dad, deserve awards!

My God I just finished the series and I’m exhausted, like literally physically and emotionally exhausted from this show!!!! I’m rethinking my damn parenting to my son. The performances were brilliant, sublime, emotional!!!! Bravo to the father whose emotional breakdown ricocheted me back to my panic attacks. The son’s character is spell Emmy worthy ❤

the lack of neat and tidy resolution is absolutely its strength because thats real life! It raises more questions than it answers.

The main kid is honestly unbelievable.

The best limited series I've seen for a while.

Not only that each episode was taken in one continuous shot, the acting was superb!

Again, she is not a therapist or counsellor but an 'evaluator'!

Honestly, this is some of the best acting I've seen in a long time, the story arcs, the line delivery, the attention to details in these 4 episodes will leave you startled... The last 2 mins is haunting

I didn’t intend to watch all 4 episodes but could not stop. It left me emotionally exhausted and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the performances of the actors.

The scene with the counselor had me on the edge of my seat. That kid blew it out of the water with that masterful performance.

I saw the description of one shot and was like no way- I was so impressed by this style of filming- every actor did a fantastic job considering this- it would have been amazing acting anyway but knowing each episode is one shot is so crazy talented
Granted- it could have been spliced there were opportunities for cuts - but the effect sold me

I don’t remember music in the show at all that’s how engrossed I was in the amazing acting

No TV show will ever top this. Simply brilliant, and Episode 3 alone deserves every award it can get.

Finished watching it an hour ago or so. I agree with this review. It's spellbinding, doesn't have a false note in it. The acting is beyond superb. It's brilliant! Don't miss it!

As a dad with a son that final scene broke me for a few days

Watched this last night and I was blown away. The one-take makes you feel like you're right there with them. And the intensity is unrelenting.

A masterclass in storytelling, writing, cinematography and acting. A series that tells so much in just 4 episodes. It's shocking, gut-wrenching and heartbreaking. A must watch for any parent of kids in the modern age.

I loved your review but am at a loss about how the ending is unresolved. It's totally resolved. 100%! You 'know' after the phone call.

My reading is that it's clear from Episode 1 that Jamie killed the girl... no doubt about it. As the creators pointed out... this is not a Whodunit...it's a Whydoneit....

As a British person, i find it amazing that this has gone to Netflix and to American audiences so quickly. We're used to programmes being shown on the BBC, ITV or Channel 4 before that happens. It's kind of surprising.

I just finished this and it is so relevant to today. Us as parents want to protect but we don't want to be our parents. There's no handbook but we must be vigilant with our children. They're slipping through the cracks.

I was also so uncomfortable when the court psychologist was with Jamie. You really felt that whole episode. Great mini series.
