No wonder Quagmire didn't open the door.

I'm imagining Neil degrasse Tyson at ground zero saying "hmm, how can there be an explosion and no shockwave" while darting his eyes around

Bro went from "heres why we cant do this" to "why no shockwave?" In half a second

I remember before 9/11 the pilots would just leave the cockpit doors open and you could see inside, It was very relaxing at night seeing all the dashboard lights

I heard it in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. I agree. There as no shock wave; it was a very deep “pop” sound. Absolutely surreal to hear and then hear again shortly after.

I admire this scientist. He is a brilliant, passionate, and renowned PhD in astrophysics. I admire his attitude in trying to educate people who are Illiterate in science, in this way creates a better society. Imagine having 1000 or 1, 000, 000 teachers like him, motivating the learning appetite of all of us. I deeply appreciate his efforts. I hope other people will value the opportunity to be supplied with the knowledge and experience he exposes.

I remember when I was a kid the pilots would invite us into the cockpit. One of the co-pilots actually put me on his lap when I was about three. I'll never forget it. It's one of my first memories

This makes so much sense as to why there hasn't been another attempt.

Context: he was asked how his most recent flight went

I like how Neil was a top scientist and even he had questions about the event when he saw it. Difference of course is that Neil did the work, figured out he didn't know everything about explosions, and moved on.

Neil is the type of guy who witnesses 9/11 and thinks about why there was no shockwave

I'm a retired airline pilot. He is exactly correct. All our hijacking training prior to 9/11 involved cooperation with the hijacker. Delay - delay - appease - and more delay. It even was known to work if the pilot resisted a request by the hijacker by saying, "If I do that, I'll get fired." That can actually work as it was assumed that the hijacker had no particular animus toward the pilot(s).

There was a shockwave that traveled underground we shared the same rock

Not only that. Customers aren’t going to sit there and do nothing.

this is literally the paradox of knowledge at work. he asked a question, realized he didnt know something and now he knows more because of it. thats crazy

The attacks could have killed way more people.
On the attacks, the hijackers actually hijacked the planes too early, early enough so that not everyone was at work in the towers. If I remember correctly, if the planes hit the towers a couple of hours later, there would have been 30-50 thousand deaths, compared to about 3 thousand.
This is just based on what I learned a few years ago, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
