My Peterbilt’s belt or belt pulleys make a squeaky sound after every time it rains very heavy !!! I’m not sure why it does this but it’s very annoying.
It will only stop after you let the truck sit for a day !!!

It's either an idler or a tensioner

Serpentine Belt Tenisor. Found this out the hard way. When I worked at T.A. I replaced a drivers belt, shop then had to warranty the work the following day, because "idiot me in a rush", forgot to check the pulley and see that it had a blueish tint on the roller. Driver had the Tenisor replaced, and the noise went away. Anytime that dreaded noise is happening, it's because the Serpentine Belt Tenisor is failing, and you will blow belts like no tomorrow if it's not taken care of. Sometimes, the new belt may only last a day. Get a new Serpentine Belt & Tenisor, only $120. And it only takes about 10 minutes to install. And do not lube the belt. You will cause the issue again over time. Also, do not idle the truck for extensive periods of time when parked. You are putting more wear on parts that do not need it.

Belt squeel is usually a pulley alignment issue, find the noisy pulley an check the alignment you may need a spacer or new bracket.

Hold a brush on the grooved side of the belt. Clean of the belt alittle. It’s definitely normal for a belt to squeal when water or any liquid gets on it.

Yup, , , ,
Three causes for squealing belts .
1: Alignment, ,
Check belt n pullys, realign by shiming pully/bending bracket.
2: Loose belt, ,,
Check belt tension, retension.
3: Contaminated
Or /dirty belts, ,, often grease or oil & dust,
Clean with brake clean, apply graphite wax, soap, or, baby powder to belts.

Check your pulleys it’s not the belt. If it’s a cat motor they go out out all of the time

Raining through the grill and radiator mists the belts and pulleys cleaning the friction surfaces.
You are hearing the squeaky clean sound coming from them.
Once you get them dusty dirty you won’t hear them squeaking anymore.😎🖖🏼

Spent a year or so working on FL Cascadias. I'm no expert. But the first thing I would try (if you have not already) is just changing the brand of the belt. Other than that are you having any kind of electrical or A/C issues? A bad tensioner means slippage. Which can result in poor charge or a wonky A/C.

Tighten the belts and put belt dressing on them

The solution, a deaf man taught me, was to turn up the stereo. You'll see.

Put some soap on them, and they will quiet right up.

The older the belts are the harder the rubber is that the belt is made out of change your belts softer rubber will grip even if it's wet. You're welcome.
