It's the Music. Haunting... Diabolical... Methodical. That first season of The Outer Limits - Episodic Music, even the opening and ending credits... MADE THAT SHOW UNIQUE for its TIME.
Yes, many of the stories were thought-provoking...sure. But that orchestrated-theme gave the show its life... feeling... and character.

Superior series with a moral message at the end of each episode. The 90's version episodes of this series were not in the same class as the original along with very poor photography.
