Notepad works good on windows. Note: You can't use text editors such as Microsoft word because they put code inside your writing and have all sorts of wacky functions that mess everything up.

if you are doing this on a linux/unix environment and dont have gcc go ahead and type sudo apt-get install gcc than when it prompts you to type y or n type y than hit enter and it should install..

My only complaint so far is when you zoomed out at the end to the end card, and then showed how to exit VIM. I'm watching on YouTube mobile and the text in the box is so small when it zoomed out its impossible to see. luckily enough, it was only :q though so I heard you say what it was.

Why would I use a terminal baced text editor, such as vim, to write code?

I know, I have written hundreds of lines of code in nano, but only because I was writing on a stupid mobile device that didn't have an editor better suited to the task.

When ever I have a the choise, I use vs-code.
