The answer to this doesn't need to be one of science, but rather one of language. No matter what you say causes this phenomenon, we have a word for it and that word is gravity. The word 'gravity' doesn't explain the causes of gravity, it's just a way for us to talk about it. If you can't understand this important distinction between language and science, then you won't understand what causes gravity. Never trust a person who doesn't understand their own language.

So basically, gravity isn't something the pull things down. It is rather a phenomenon caused by massive objects in space attracting smaller objects. And that occurrence, we call it gravity. It is a verb.
